Company Provided Continuing Education

New employee orientation period.

All new hires will complete an initial orientation period at the start of their employment with Pope County EMS. This period usually lasts a minimum of 3 weeks and may take longer, depending on the experience and progress of the new employee. Initial orientation will be five days a week from 0800-1600 and directed by the Education Coordinator and the Director.

BLS for HCP CPR

The AHA's BLS Provider Course reflects science and education from the 2020 Guidelines Update for CPR and ECC. This is the course required by national and Arkansas Department of Health standards.

Advanced Cardiac Life Support- Recert

AHA's ACLS offerings highlight the importance of team dynamics and communication, systems of care and immediate post-cardiac arrest care. They also cover airway management and related pharmacology.  This is a recertification class. To be eligible for this course you must have a current ACLS card and take/submit the course pretest.  This is the course required by national and Arkansas Department of Health standards.

EMT and Paramedic Refresher Training

Following the guidelines of Arkansas Department of Health and the National Registry, refresher training is taught over 3-5 days. The curriculum meets the requirements of all National and state components of the NCCP for all EMS licensure levels. This training is held twice a year, in the early spring and fall. This class is limited to Pope County EMS and affiliated personnel. In extreme circumstances, outside students may be admitted. Content based on current NREMT and ADH requirements.

Miscellaneous

Other classes are held as needed for our personnel. They involve content limited to Pope County EMS needs. These classes are limited to Pope County EMS and affiliated personnel. No exceptions. An example would be our Radiation Monitoring classes held each year.

Our education program is designed to provide more than adequate continuing education hours for the two year recertification and licensure schedule.
